All armchair sports enthusiasts, please note. This is Ross Parker (second from left). Yes, the Ross of Elm House Creative. He is representing Ireland. He is taking part in an international competition in Spain. And he is right up there with the leaders. How cool is that?

Our ambassador to Spain gets ready to depart

A big ‘adios amigo’ to Ross who is preparing to visit Spain to represent Ireland in the World Laser Championships.

Yes, I’ll say that again – Ross is preparing to visit Spain to represent Ireland in the World Laser Championships.

As Ross himself is quick to point out, it’s all very well travelling all around Europe supporting a certain team or sport – but it’s a whole different kettle of monkfish when you travel to other countries actually representing your country. That’s what is basically known as TALENT.

It’s another week or so before he departs but we thought we’d let you know now so that you can get to grips with the rules and language of sailing – it will help you speak knowledgeably about it in the pub as you impress your mates with the fact that you actually know an international sportsman who is out there competing against the best in the world.

Visit again soon when we’ll have some of the frequently used terms up for you to learn. In the meantime, here’s three to be going on with:

Ross’s back

Yes, our sole international sailing representative is back. He went to Spain. He did his thing. He burnt his foot. He didn’t actually win anything. And now he’s back.
