Amur versus quod subsidio

The brave boys of Elmhousemuir FFC prepare to do battle at the Northern Ireland Media Fantasy Football League Auction Night in Shu.

Led by Team Manager Jonny Kane, the team includes Kris Byers, Chief Scout and Mark Heaney, Youth Development Officer. Commenting on the hopes for the new Season ahead, Director of Football and former NIMFFL League winner Michael Stewart commented ‘long runs the fox…’. Also pictured, Ross Parker, Artistic Director.

Old ‘shock horror’ vs ‘new smart’

Before the holiday, I recall reading that ‘the powers that be’ here were thinking of moving away from the shock horror of drink drive commecials as it seems that the ‘younger generation’ were so used to seeing graphic violence on screen. Smart move I’d say if it produced thinking like this from Portugal:

Bet you never knew Hitler was a Sheffield United fan

Thanks to the scamp blog for making us aware of this flash of genius.

Foy Vance in Hill Street

If you haven’t seen the amazing Foy in action there’s a chance to see him over 3 nights at the Black Box (next door to Elm House Creative) at the end of August. Check him out on youtube and also at his very nice website:

How good are Oppenheimer?

The other day, the one and only Rocky O’Reilly of Oppenheimer swung by to see us again. He very kindly dropped in some latest music as well as telling us about the new album, Ugly Betty fame and how one of their tracks is now being used by Fuji. Success couldn’t happen to a nicer band. Check out the current album if you haven’t done so already.

Simpson’s soundtrack packaging

How good is this, Dickie? In the immortal words of Comic Book Guy: Best. CD Packaging. Ever.

Anybody know who did it? Credit where credit is due – that’s the rule in this House.

Calling all PC users

Listen, the time’s up – you have to convert to Mac.

Speaking as someone who has just taken control of a snazzy little MacBook, I can tell you that everything is easier over here on the other side.

OK, so it took maybe a day or so to pick up on a few things – but it’s time well spent.

And when I completed an animatic in about four hours this afternoon (including gathering clips, photos and logos; learning how to work iMovie; importing and editing sound)… well, there was the price of the kit saved already.

You’ll also notice that the size of the pic below is much bigger than those previously posted here. I know that there was a way to make them that size using a PC but it would have taken a 3-day residential course to explain all the rigmarole you had to go through. To me, at least. On a mac, you just click a preference box.

Like Shoeless Joe Jackson said to Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams: “Is this Heaven?”
